Cody Humphries made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Yates, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Susigan, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Pinnacle Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lake Lure Classical Academy lost 20-4 to The Master's Academy on Monday.
Pinnacle Classical Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything went Pinnacle Classical Academy's way against Lake Lure Classical Academy in their previous meeting back in April, as Pinnacle Classical Academy made off with a 12-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
