Bloomingdale is 1-8 against Steinbrenner since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Bloomingdale Bulls will host the Steinbrenner Warriors at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Steinbrenner will be up against a hot Bloomingdale squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Bloomingdale never let Durant get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bulls have posted against the Cougars since April 6, 2018.
The result came thanks to Hayden Porter's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Alvin Cruz was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Vincent Dinzeo Jr, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Bloomingdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Steinbrenner, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Spoto on Thursday as Steinbrenner made off with a 19-2 win. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.
Landen Boever looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Steinbrenner is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise.
At the plate, Nick Osborne was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Dylan Kolsen was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.
Bloomingdale pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Steinbrenner, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bloomingdale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Steinbrenner struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
