National basketball powerhouse
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) is used to bringing in super-talented players almost every year.

That makes it very surprising that the Monarchs lost one of their own brightest prospects this week when the Los Angeles Times reported this week that
Shaqquan Aaron is transferring to
Taft (Woodland Hills, Calif.). The 6-foot-7 Aaron is among the nation's premier incoming sophomores.
First-year coach Jason Hart, a former NBA player, lost at least two players who transferred after he took over for long-time coach Derrick Taylor, but he is rebounding quickly to keep Taft at a high level.
* Meanwhile, Taylor is building St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) into an over-night power. He already has received 6-4 transfer brothers Isaac and Daniel Hamilton and expects 6-7 Anthony January (Compton, Calif.) to also enroll and be eligible for his senior year.
Isaac Hamilton, who will be a junior, averaged 19.5 points last year at
Crenshaw (Los Angeles, Calif.), while Daniel averaged nearly 10 points as a freshman. Their older brother, Jordan Hamilton, starred at the University of Texas and was selected 26th overall in the NBA draft last spring by the champion Dallas Mavericks.
