Basketball Game Preview: Union Colony Prep Timberwolves vs. Estes Park Bobcats

The Union Colony Prep Timberwolves will take on the Estes Park Bobcats in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Colony Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.5 points per game this season.

Union Colony Prep is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Denver Waldorf just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The matchup marked the Timberwolves' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite their loss, Union Colony Prep saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tanner Sarchet, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Sarchet's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Josiah Rodriguez was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Union Colony Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Estes Park over Addenbrooke Classical Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Estes Park blew past Addenbrooke Classical Academy 60-37. The Bobcats pushed the score to 50-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs had little chance of recovering from.

Estes Park moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Union Colony Prep, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Union Colony Prep took a serious blow against Estes Park in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 67-17. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Union Colony Prep was down 44-5.
