After flying high against the DePue Little Giants on Wednesday, the Lowpoint-Washburn Wildcats came back down to earth. Lowpoint-Washburn took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stark County on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lowpoint-Washburn came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Stark County is ranked 335th).
Despite the loss, Lowpoint-Washburn still got an impressive performance from Baylor Steffen, who scored 25 points. Steffen hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kody Knecht, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals.
Lowpoint-Washburn's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Stark County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Lowpoint-Washburn will head out on the road to face off against DeLand-Weldon at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. DeLand-Weldon is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Stark County, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Midland at 7:00 p.m.
