Baseball Recap: Piner's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Montgomery, Piner was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Terra Linda Trojans. This was a revenge game for the Prospectors: when they faced off against the Trojans back in March, they had to take a 4-1 defeat.

Sokhayne Prak made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Prak was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Piner is 5-2 when Prak posts two or more runs, but 1-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Cordoza, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. He has become a key player for Piner: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellan Stiles, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Piner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

Piner moved to 6-11 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Terra Linda, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Piner wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-0 loss against Analy on the 23rd. As for Terra Linda, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-2 defeat against San Marin on the 22nd.
