Springboro is a perfect 10-0 against Northmont since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will take on the Thunderbolts at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Springboro took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Beavercreek by a score of 7-4.

Blake Patterson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Dylan Preston looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
Patterson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Micah Brandon, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Brandon a new career-high. Another was Drew Davis, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Northmont hadn't done well against Fairmont recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Thunderbolts had just enough and edged out the Firebirds 5-4. The game was the first time the Thunderbolts have beaten the Firebirds on their field since April 7, 2021.
Northmont let Brady Lupton and Aidan Pendleton run wild. Lupton went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Pendleton went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
The victory was the third in a row for Northmont, bringing their record up to 6-9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Springboro, their record now sits at 10-7.
Springboro beat Northmont 7-3 in their previous matchup last Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
