The Sotomayor WILDCATS's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 38-7 loss at the hands of Brennan. While losing is never fun, Sotomayor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 531st, while Brennan is ranked 166th).
When it comes to explaining why Sotomayor lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Gutierrez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Sotomayor's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Brennan's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Cameron Grady and his two sacks.
Brennan found their leader in underclassman Micai Thompson, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Malik White and his 82 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Brennan's win.
Sotomayor now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Brennan, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Sotomayor will be playing at home against O'Connor at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. O'Connor is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Brennan, they will head out on the road to face off against Holmes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Holmes is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
