Basketball Game Preview: Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles vs. Southwest Raiders

The Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles will face off against the Southwest Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Dunbar on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Diamond Hill-Jarvis was outmatched by Dunbar and fell 96-64. The Eagles were down 72-46 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis might have lost, but man, Anthony Elizondo was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 40 points and 11 boards. The contest was Elizondo's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raul Marquez, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Diamond Hill-Jarvis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Southwest had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 58-47.

Southwest has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Diamond Hill-Jarvis, they dropped their record down to 10-17 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
