The UIC College Prep Firecats were the 55-45 winner over the Johnson Pumas when they last played one another back in January of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. UIC College Prep had to suffer through a rough 58-18 loss at the hands of Johnson. UIC College Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-3.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Nailah Starnes and
Aliyah Benson, who each put up five points.
Destiny Taylor was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 38 points and 18 rebounds for Johnson. That makes it two consecutive games in which Taylor has scored at least 25% of Johnson's points. Le'Andra Hill was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
The last time UIC College Prep won on the road was back last Thursday. Having now lost three straight away contests, they've bumped their record down to 1-4. As for Johnson, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
UIC College Prep will head out on the road to face off against Comer at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Johnson, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Bulls College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on December 7th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Bulls College Prep is ranked 185th, while Johnson is ranked 187th).
