Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Christian Piles Up the Points Against Franklin Academy

Hillcrest Christian won the last time they faced Franklin Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Hillcrest Christian Cougars blew past the Franklin Academy Cougars 73-21. With Hillcrest Christian ahead 46-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Hillcrest Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from De'Ashton Lewis, who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and six rebounds. Those six boards gave Lewis a new career-high. Tyler McGruder also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Hillcrest Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Hillcrest Christian has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for Franklin Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, Hillcrest Christian and Franklin Academy will both be playing River Oaks the next time they take the court. Hillcrest Christian will head out to face River Oaks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Franklin Academy will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
