Basketball Recap: Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] Falls Despite Big Games from Cara Phillips and Amera Roberts

After flying high against Villa Grove last Thursday, Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] came back down to earth. The Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] Titans took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Heritage Hawks on Monday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Amera Roberts and Cara Phillips certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Roberts went 6 for 11 en route to 12 points and six rebounds, while Phillips posted eight points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Roberts a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Haylee Buckler, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points.

Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addison Hopper, who went 8 for 17 en route to 19 points. Brooklynn Powell was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Heritage, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-8.

Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] will be playing at home against Unity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Heritage, they will be taking part in a tournament against Sullivan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
