The Tulia Hornets fell victim to the Canadian Wildcats''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Wildcats on the road and fell 72-0. While losing is never fun, Tulia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1083rd, while Canadian is ranked 71st).
David Molina threw for 138 yards on only 12 passes. Logan Beccera was his top target, picking up 91 receiving yards.
Tulia's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Muleshoe and 6-3 Childress (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.8% over those games). As for Canadian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Tulia will be playing in front of their home fans against Spearman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spearman is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Canadian, they will head out on the road to face off against Dimmitt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
