The Colton Yellowjackets will take on the Bloomington Bruins at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Colton has five straight victories, Bloomington has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Colton made easy work of Rialto and carried off an 18-3 win. Considering the Yellowjackets have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

VALERIE VARELA was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. STEPHANIE DELACRUZ was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
VARELA wasn't the only one making solid contact: Colton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. The Yellowjackets are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, while it was Bloomington who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was Eisenhower who put up more. The Bruins fell 7-3 to the Eagles.
Bloomington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vanessa Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Colton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Bloomington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Bloomington's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Colton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bloomington, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Colton keep running through batters, or will the Bruins buck the trend?
Colton took their victory against Bloomington in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
