Furr has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Worthing Colts at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Furr managed to keep up with the Eagles until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Furr's rough 80-56 defeat to the Eagles might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Furr in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Worthing's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight defeat. They fell just short of Yates by a score of 59-57. While losing is never fun, Worthing can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 921st, while the Lions are ranked 314th).
Furr dropped their record down to 13-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Worthing, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Furr skirted past the Colts 70-67 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Furr since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
