Baseball Recap: Kenwood Drops Season-High Score on Dundalk

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kenwood). They put the hurt on the Dundalk Owls with a sharp 17-7 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bluebirds in their matchups with the Owls: they've now won four in a row.

Kyle Rineman and Seth Trocki were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Rineman tossed two innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Trocki tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Kenwood's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't). At bat, Rineman got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Trocki went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Rineman has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Duvall, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Boblitz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Kenwood's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Dundalk, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Coming up, Kenwood will challenge Eastern Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dundalk, they will welcome Western Tech & Environmental Science at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
