Baseball Recap: Washington Has No Trouble Against Casady

While Washington put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Casady. The Warriors blew past the Cyclones 15-0. Considering the Warriors have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Spencer Barton, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Casady off the board. Barton has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Rico, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Y Bello, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Casady only posted an OBP of .286.

Washington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Casady, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Washington and Casady could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. The Warriors will take on Heritage Hall at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (114 vs. 19). Meanwhile, Casady (ranked 928th) will meet Lindsay (ranked 190th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
