5A Region II District 13 recap November 5, 2013
Klein Forest moved up to 464 from 545 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 13. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of besting Spring 15-13.
Westfield added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Kingwood, 52-20. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Mustangs.
Westfield's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Courtland Greenwood threw for 164 and 3 touchdowns and Donovan Thompson had 96 yards receiving. On the ground Akpaffiong Tisdale chipped in 140 yards. Tevin Lewis helped Westfield's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 68 yards.
Corby Meekins' team's dynamic duo of Greenwood and Thompson proved to be unstoppable against the Mustangs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lewis helped Westfield's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 68 yards.
Adrian Hardy provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Dekaney fell to Atascocita. He completed 13 passes for 181 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 75 yards. Hardy's favorite target this week was Aaron Cephus, who caught 4 passes for 60 yards.
The Mustangs' William Dedon and Lewis led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Dedon has thrown for 540 yards this season, while Lewis has 18 catches for 411 yards. Demarcus Felton from the Wildcats leads the league in rushing with 1,783 yards.
An important game coming up in 5A Region II District 13 this week will be when Klein Collins takes on the Eagles. The Tigers are currently in sixth, while Atascocita is in second.
The league will see a high scoring game when Dekaney and Westfield face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Anthony Williams' team comes in having scored 190 this season, while the Mustangs have scored 347. The Wildcats scored 17 points last week as they fell to the Eagles.
Westfield took down Kingwood 52-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Greenwood ran for 30 yards during the win.
