Chelmsford came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the St. John's Pioneers 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Pioneers back in May, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.
Finn Ramseyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Ramseyer was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Matthew Hall and Jack Keyo did most of the damage at the plate: Hall went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Keyo went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Hall has posted since back in May.
Chelmsford's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. John's, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 19-5 record.
As of now, neither Chelmsford nor the Pioneers have any future games scheduled.
