The Ayersville Pilots had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They strolled past Wauseon with points to spare, taking the game 45-29. Given Ayersville's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Wauseon is ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ayersville had a senior duo take command as Kiersten Manon scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals and Ally Schindler scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Schindler is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kendra Waldron, who scored nine points.
Ayersville pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Wauseon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ayersville will face off against Edgerton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ayersville's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Edgerton's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Wauseon, they will head out on the road to face off against Delta at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Delta will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Wauseon surely won't give up without a fight.
