The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Perry Meridian Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Franklin Community's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 games.
Last Saturday, Franklin Community faced Warren Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Franklin Community sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-60 win over Warren Central. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Micah Davis, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 40 points and 4 assists. He hasn't dropped below 20 points for ten straight games. Grant Hunter was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Perry Meridian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 71-52 to New Palestine. While losing is never fun, Perry Meridian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while New Palestine is ranked 15th).
Franklin Community's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Perry Meridian, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
Everything went Franklin Community's way against Perry Meridian in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Franklin Community made off with a 59-39 victory. Does Franklin Community have another victory up their sleeve, or will Perry Meridian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
