The Grand Island Islanders are taking a road trip to  challenge the Elkhorn North Wolves  at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Grand Island is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7  runs per game  this season.
Grand Island took a 11-run  defeat the last time they faced off against Lincoln Southwest, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Islanders had just enough and edged out the Silver Hawks  4-3. The  win was familiar territory for the Islanders, who have now won three  contests in a row.
 Gabe Ruiz tossed a big game,   pitching 6.1 innings while giving up  three earned runs off   seven  hits.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Gage Gannon, who  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with three  RBI and two  doubles. What's more,  he posted two  hits, the most he's  had  over his last 11  matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of  Sam Schroeder, who  went 1-for-3 with two  runs, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 Meanwhile, Elkhorn North didn't have quite enough to beat Lincoln Northwest on Friday and fell  2-1.
 Grand Island's record now sits at 16-6. As for Elkhorn North, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
