Basketball Recap: North Park's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After a string of three wins, North Park's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They came up short against the De Beque Dragons, falling 53-31. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.

North Park's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Graham Cornelison, who posted seven points and three steals, and Gavin Pittington, who earned ten points. That's the most steals Cornelison has posted since back in December of 2023.

De Beque was led to victory by Jace Graham and Burke Largent. Graham dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 boards, while Largent went 8 for 14 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Graham has scored at least a third of De Beque's points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Carman, who had four points and eight rebounds.

North Park's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-4. As for De Beque, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

North Park has already played their next contest, a 44-42 loss against West Grand on the 24th. As for De Beque, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-53 defeat against Nucla on the 23rd.
