Auburn (Ala.) grabbed the lead when
Bradley Northcutt threw a touchdown to
Sage Ledbetter with under a minute left in the fourth quarter and held on to upset
Carver (Montgomery, Ala.) 42-35 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured five lead swaps.
The Tigers expanded their lead to 10 points entering the fourth quarter. Auburn scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Ledbetter to
Hunter Roland.
The Wolverines came in giving up 11.8 points per game this season. Carver had a hard time against Auburn's offense, which entered the game scoring 36.3 points per game.
The loss comes after Carver defeated Fairhope 33-6 last week.
