The Community Academy of Philadelphia The Bruins had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They secured a 46-41 W over Delaware Valley Friends on Thursday.
Community Academy of Philadelphia can attribute much of their success to Gabriel Gonzalez, who scored 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Solis, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Delaware Valley Friends still got an impressive performance from Alec George, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Brandon Thomas, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Community Academy of Philadelphia's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0. As for Delaware Valley Friends, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Community Academy of Philadelphia will take on Maritime Academy Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Maritime Academy Charter is ranked 306th, while Community Academy of Philadelphia is ranked 284th). As for Delaware Valley Friends, they will head out on the road to face off against United Christian Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
