Catoctin waltzed into their game on Monday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They blew past the Williamsport Wildcats 22-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Taylor Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and six RBI while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kassidy Kreitz was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kelsey Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Catoctin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
