The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights lost against the Intermountain Christian Lions last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Merit Preparatory Academy suffered a tough 60-35 loss at the hands of the Lions. Merit Preparatory Academy has struggled against the Lions recently, as their match on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Merit Preparatory Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lizbeth Diaz, who scored 12 points. Stella Sutherland was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Intermountain Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makenna Stoddard led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Stoddard has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Elaine Lunsford, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Merit Preparatory Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-14. As for Intermountain Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
