South Pike has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Wesson Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, South Pike earned a 30-22 victory over Jefferson County.
Tedarrius Aych continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 244 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Aych is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Demonte Martin made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
South Pike's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Micah Nickerson and his three sacks.
Meanwhile, Wesson put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Franklin County 34-14. The result was nothing new for Wesson, who have now won six games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wesson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zevantae Stapleton, who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns. O'mari Johnson was another key contributor, gaining 84 total yards and three touchdowns.
South Pike's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.0 points per game. As for Wesson, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 7-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: South Pike has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 295.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wesson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 210.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
