The Lake Mary Rams had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They snuck past Boone with a 42-38 win on Friday. Given Lake Mary's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Boone is ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Lake Mary to victory were Caden Harshbarger and Noah Grubbs. Harshbarger picked up 300 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Grubbs threw for 510 yards and five touchdowns. Grubbs hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for six straight games. Chase Hinshaw also helped out as he racked up 101 receiving yards.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Mizell, who picked up 252 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Mizell's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards. Sam Johnson was another key contributor, throwing for 274 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes.
The victory makes it two in a row for Lake Mary and bumps their season record up to 10-1. As for Boone, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.
Lake Mary will be playing at home against Mandarin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games. Boone does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
