Baseball Recap: Valley Union Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Valley Union won against Fort Thomas last Thursday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Blue Devils beat the El Capitan Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.

Dylan Mitchell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Valley Union is undefeated when Mitchell allows one or fewer hits, but 2-5 otherwise. Mitchell was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mitchell wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Moroney Flores, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Jose Avina also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Valley Union's record now sits at 10-5. As for El Capitan, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

As of now, neither Valley Union nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
