With a playoff win on the line, Conotton Valley rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed past the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops to the tune of 78-46. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won six games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Conotton Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Haney, who rushed for 194 yards and four scores on only ten carries, and also picked up 79 receiving yards and one TD. Haney's longest rush was for an incredible 91 yards. Another passer making a difference was Kaden Leggett, who threw for 469 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 18.0 yards per attempt.
Conotton Valley's run defense was locked in: Bishop Rosecrans could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Haney for the heroic effort on defense: he. Conotton Valley didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 13.4.
Conotton Valley's defensive line didn't let Hayden Perdue, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Tyler Krawulski was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Despite the loss, Bishop Rosecrans still got an impressive performance from Perdue, who threw for 505 yards and five TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. Perdue has become a key player for the Bishops: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.
Conotton Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.7 points over those games. As for Bishop Rosecrans, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.
Coming up, Conotton Valley will square off against Hillsdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' defense has only allowed 10.1 points per game this season, so the Rockets' offense will have their work cut out for them. Bishop Rosecrans does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
