Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedar Valley). They walked away with a 72-62 win over the Mountain Ridge Sentinels on Tuesday.
Owen Bawden continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was James Milligan, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Cedar Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Ridge only racked up ten assists.
Loss or not, Mountain Ridge got some senior leadership from Will Lindsay and Landon Blackwell. Lindsay posted 20 points and six boards, while Blackwell earned 19 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Howell, who put up five points and five boards.
Cedar Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Mountain Ridge, they moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
