Softball Recap: Carleigh-Ann Wilson and Courtlyn Dousay Secure Win for Hicks

Hicks won against Pitkin last Tuesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers stepped up to hand the Peabody Warhorses an 18-0 shutout. Considering the Pirates have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Courtlyn Dousay and Carleigh-Ann Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dousay tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Wilson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dousay has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Dousay scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Wilson scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Abby Addison was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Katie-Grace Quinn was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Hicks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Hicks' win bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Peabody, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

Coming up, Hicks will square off against LaSalle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Peabody, they will challenge Simpson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
