Providence Day fell 46-37 to Legacy Early College on Friday. The match was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but Providence Day couldn't quite close it out.
Providence Day's loss came despite strong showings from Jaida Mcclure and Ellie Fyans. Mcclure scored 16 points, while Fyans scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Mcclure has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played.
Legacy Early College's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janyia Williams, who scored nine points. Mela Hollaway was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Providence Day's defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Legacy Early College, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Providence Day will take on Cannon at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cannon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 626 points over their last nine matchups. As for Legacy Early College, they will be playing at home against Victory Christian Center at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Legacy Early College is coming into the game with four straight wins at home, so Victory Christian Center is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
