The Bloomington Purple Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They breezed by Centennial at home to the tune of 72-28. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-14.
Bloomington was led to victory by Lauren Shuey and Tina Lenard. Shuey scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Lenard scored 21 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shuey has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sosi Dadekian, who scored eight points along with four steals and two blocks.
Bloomington is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-14 record this season. As for Centennial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
Bloomington will head out on the road to face off against Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield is on a five-game streak of home wins, Bloomington a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Centennial will take on Champaign Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Champaign Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Centennial in Illinois (Champaign Central is ranked 251st, while Centennial is ranked 504th).
