It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Regents had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the Grace Christian Warriors with a sharp 11-3 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.
Luke Trivette was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Matthew Amalfitano was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Regents: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Paul Duval was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Regents' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6. As for Grace Christian, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-3.
As of now, neither Regents nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
