Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Heritage walked away with it. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Marion Giants an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Patriots have won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Cameron Rauner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Rauner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The win (which was Heritage's third in a row) raised their record to 16-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marion, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-22.
As of now, neither Heritage nor the Giants have any future games scheduled.
