Basketball Game Preview: South Bulldogs vs. Fairfield Christian Academy Knights

The South Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Fairfield Christian Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

South is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Columbus International on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. South took a blow against Columbus International, falling 70-33. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-20.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ke'Sia Williams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times she's played. Emani Tynes-Clardy was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Fairfield Christian Academy entered their tilt with Granville Christian Academy on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 77-43 win over Granville Christian Academy. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 24 points or more this season.

Fairfield Christian Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

South took their victory against Fairfield Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 55-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for South since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
