Mountain View is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Maricopa Rams at 4:00 p.m. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Maricopa will be up against a hot Mountain View squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Mountain View walked away with a 7-2 win over Marana on Monday. That's two games straight that the Mountain Lions have won by exactly five runs.

Arianna Figueroa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danika Stoddard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. AAliyah Pereda was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Maricopa came up short against Canyon del Oro on Friday, falling 15-2. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Dorados recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Alanee Calderon was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Maricopa, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. However, it's not like Maricopa struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View took their win against Maricopa when the teams last played back in April of 2015 by a conclusive 13-3. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Maricopa has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
