The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of American Heritage. Merit Preparatory Academy lost against American Heritage in their previous head to head back in November, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 58-25 score last time.
Merit Preparatory Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mary Moody, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Ayla Coltharp, who scored nine points.
Merit Preparatory Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 1-10-1 record this season. As for American Heritage, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Merit Preparatory Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Freedom Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. American Heritage will be staying on the road on December 28th to face off against Summit Academy at 11:00 a.m. on December 28th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Summit Academy is ranked 85th, while American Heritage is ranked 63rd).
