Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rancho). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Valley Vikings a 20-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Rams have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
William Patriquin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Rancho is undefeated when Patriquin posts two or more runs, but 9-16 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mayson Au Young-Uwaine, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mayson Bumstead, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Rancho's victory bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Valley, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
