Basketball Recap: Bronaugh Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Bronaugh faced off against Sheldon on Monday. The Bronaugh Wildcats came up short against the Sheldon Panthers, falling 54-28. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Bronaugh still got an impressive performance from Nellie Earnest, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Earnest a new career-high in points.

Leading Sheldon to victory were Mariam Lamb and Wynsdae Connelly. Lamb dropped a double-double on 28 points and 18 rebounds, while Connelly went 7 for 14 on her way to 20 points along with six boards and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Connelly has scored at least a third of Sheldon's points.

Bronaugh's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Sheldon, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Bronaugh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-27 defeat against Jefferson Independent Day on the 22nd. As for Sheldon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-32 loss against Pierce City on the 22nd.
