The Hialeah Thoroughbreds will take on the Belen Jesuit Wolverines at TBD on Tuesday. Hialeah will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 163rd).
Hialeah pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-57 to Westland Hialeah. Hialeah has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, everything went Belen Jesuit's way against the Victors on Tuesday as the Wolverines made off with a 70-47 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Belen Jesuit.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Belen Jesuit to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alec Arnholt, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Carlos Santana, who scored 17 points.
Hialeah's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-8. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Belen Jesuit, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Hialeah, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-36 loss to the Wolverines in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Hialeah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
