Softball Recap: St. Mary's Ryken Wins Going Away Against Our Lady of Good Counsel

St. Mary's Ryken owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mikaela Guy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ava Chadwick was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Amira Brown was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

St. Mary's Ryken was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Our Lady of Good Counsel only posted a batting average of .167.

The win snapped St. Mary's Ryken's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-3 record. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4.

Coming up, St. Mary's Ryken will welcome Huntingtown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, they are taking a road trip to square off against Bishop McNamara at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
