There's no place like home for the Jefferson Area Falcons, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They snuck past Madison with a 50-44 victory on Wednesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Jefferson Area's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 150th).
Mia Contenza continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Jefferson Area's points. Another player making a difference was Tatum Bordeaux, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Jefferson Area pushed their record up to 9-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Madison, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.
Jefferson Area will be playing at home against the Warriors at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Conneaut focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday.
