After a string of three wins, the Chapman Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Travelers Rest. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chapman in their matchups with Travelers Rest: they've now lost three in a row.
Hawken Smith and Rashawn Cunningham certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Smith scored seven points along with five rebounds, while Cunningham scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Cunningham hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Chapman struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Chapman's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Travelers Rest, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapman will take on Blue Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Blue Ridge's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. As for Travelers Rest, they will be playing at home against Woodmont at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Woodmont has insisted on making their lastseven contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 7-0 during that stretch of close contests.
