After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Scotland, the Westover Wolverines were happy to have found some success on Friday. They secured a 37-33 W over Pine Forest. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Westover also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Westover's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rmani Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja?Naisha Carney, who scored four points along with five steals.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leilani Rankin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Rankin pulled down eight or more rebounds. Armoni Campbell was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Westover's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Pine Forest, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Westover won't have much time to rest: their next game is against John Paul II Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. John Paul II Catholic is looking to tack on another W to their ten-game streak on the road. As for Pine Forest, they will be playing at home against Western Harnett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Harnett has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
