The Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins will square off against the Carroll Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, Fort Wayne Northrop got the win against Churubusco by a conclusive 10-3. The win continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.
Kendall Huth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Karlie Bruce, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Huth, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Fort Wayne Northrop hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Carroll entered their tilt with Northridge on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory.
Taylor Danley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaelyn Kinsey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Izzy Rapson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Carroll's win bumped their record up to 20-5-1. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.
Fort Wayne Northrop skirted past Carroll 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
