The Emmett Huskies will challenge the Weiser Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Emmett comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
On Thursday, Emmett came up short against Columbia and fell 6-3.
Gabe Fullerton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025.
At the plate, Emmett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kash Walton, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Weiser came out on top against Burns on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Wolverines won by a run and slipped past the Hilanders 6-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wolverines as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Lance Albertson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jace Waggoner also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Weiser's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Emmett, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
Emmett's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Huskies have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Weiser, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Emmett continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Emmett's way against Weiser in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, as Emmett made off with a 15-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
