Softball Recap: Lynn Makes It Three in a Row at Home

While Lynn put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Haleyville. The Bears walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Lions. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 15-4 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Not much got past Maddie Brooke Rutledge, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Haleyville off the board. Rutledge has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lynn saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dereka Bryan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Bryan has posted since back in March.

Lynn pushed their record up to 16-11-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Haleyville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.

Looking ahead, Lynn will face off against Cordova at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Haleyville, they will be taking part in a tournament against Carbon Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
